BRAZIL'S SUPREME COURT WON'T BLOCK IMPEACHMENT VOTE

Brazil’s Supreme Court on Friday rejected an attempt by President Dilma Rousseff to block a vote in Congress' lower house to impeach her.

Jose Eduardo Cardozo, Rousseff's attorney general, had asked the court for an injunction to suspend Sunday's vote until the full court can rule on what he described as procedural flaws in the impeachment process, Reuters reported. The Supreme Court dismissed the motion 8-2 in an extraordinary session that lasted for more than 7 hours. Rousseff has been accused of using money from public banks to fill budget holes.
